Canva was created with teachers and students in mind and initially launched to the ed-tech market. However, because of its versatility and accessibility, it has grown within other industries, being used in a wide variety of fields and by a spectrum of users, organizations, and institutions.

Canva for Education

Canva for Education is a commitment made by Canva to allow Canva to be free for eligible k-12 teachers and students. Despite being free for many educators, the platform is not free for other educational spaces like public libraries, universities, and non-profits. So, while they offer their services for no cost in many educational contexts, Canva is still purchased and used in many other non-k-12 spaces.
-
Used by 45 million teachers and students worldwide
-
Used in more than 600 thousand schools
-
Used to create over 1.5 billion educational designs
-
Canva provides over 76 thousand education-specific templates

More than a design tool
Canva for Education allows teachers to use Canva in the classroom, as a design tool, but also as a collaborative whiteboard. The whiteboard tool is a recent addition to Canvas features, which was made to address some of the challenges teachers faced when providing distanced e-learning. The tool allows students and teachers to edit within the platform in real-time while still maintaining the "drag and drop" accessibility that Canva prides itself on.
Canva is capitalizing on a deficit in the ed-tech market, a market that lacks products that are easy, interactive, and allow for complex "making" in a completely digital space. Canva is leading the education industry forward by combining its expansive digital resources with collaborative feartures intended for classroom use.
